WORDS BY THE WATER - BURSARIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Words by the Water - Festival of Words and Ideas is pleased to offer young people the chance to listen to and engage with a host of prominent writers, politicians, broadcasters and commentators through our Bursary Scheme.

If you are passionate about writing and new ideas; excited about art, travel, philosophy, politics and current affairs, or simply seeking inspiration there are lots of reasons to apply.

Here are just a few events to get you started:

- Simon Watt, Channel 4’s presenter of Inside Nature’s Giants, on Natural History as you’ve never seen it before.
- Mark Logue and Peter Conradi reveal the truth behind the Oscar winning ‘The Kings Speech’
- Alistair Darling on the events that rocked global capitalism.
- Gavin Pretor-Pinney takes a look at clouds.
- Stanley Wells talks on Shakespeare, sex and love.
- Bob Marshall-Andrews, Chris Mullin and Rory Stewart on the state of politics and Britain today
- Jessica Fellowes on the world of Downton Abbey
- Mihir Bose and Chris Cooper talk about sport.

PLUS:

- Comedy from Josie Long and Shappi Khorsandi
- Topical themed days including Money Matters, Charles Dickens and Exploration
- Poetry and essay competitions

The bursary scheme allows you to see up to 10 different events at the 2012 festival free of charge.
Tickets are available on a first come first served basis. One ticket per event.
