Words by the Water Festival 2016

Press Release: Words by the Water 2016

Don’t miss the Words by the Water Festival at the Lake District

The Words by the Water Festival of Words and Ideas at Theatre by the Lake in Keswick can’t summon Wordsworth and Coleridge to take part in their programme but there are many other literary folk coming to the Lake District in March 2016. James Naughtie might be walking on the banks of Derwentwater; Melvyn Bragg may be strolling the fells. Howard Jacobson may be seen walking up Skiddaw. David Hare, the dramatist, might be spotted in conversation with Booker Prize-winner Ben Okri.

If you find Richard Dawkins around the theatre it means that he is speaking at the festival. James Rebanks will be telling about his life as a sheep farmer.

Consider the role of the NHS today with Francis Bennett who has written a biography of Clement Attlee, the architect of the NHS, and Sir George Alberti a British doctor who has served on many national and international committees and who will be giving the Derwentwater lecture.

All these people, together with about another 100 speakers, are going to be part of the Words by the Water festival which takes place in March. Tickets are on sale now at the Theatre by the Lake box-office and sell out very quickly so those interested should contact the box-office immediately. (T. 017687 74411)
